Clothing our kids these days can get to be a pretty expensive task! You can easily spend your whole month’s grocery budget on a couple of stylish outfits! I’m not saying that I have done this and I hope you have not either, but when money is tight you have to be creative.
Stocking up on clothing throughout the year is a great way to spread out the cost and you will also be able to find some fabulous deals!
My favorite ways to get great prices on kids clothes is shopping the End of Season Clearance Sales, eBay and Garage Sales!

Every year I think about how I need to research and find the best natural and safe, yet effective, sunscreen for my kids and for myself of course!
The summer passes on and all the while my “sunscreen research project” is still on my to-do list and I’m using what I think is my best choice from my local “save money, live better” store.
Well, I came across the fabulous 2009 Sunscreen Safety Guide: Best and Worst in one of my newsletter subscriptions and was thrilled! The Environmental Working Group has done all of the work for me (and then some)!
“EWG’s investigation of 485 beach and sport sunscreens finds that 3 out of 5 contain chemicals that may pose health hazards or don’t adequately protect skin from the sun’s damaging rays.” ~ www.ewg.org

Ok, it’s one of the first few days of summer vacation…
the kids are home, starting to get a little restless and you are scrambling for something to keep them occupied for 15 minutes!
If you don’t find something quick, they are going to start dragging out all of the blankets, pillows and towels they can find to make a fort!
Printable coloring pages to the rescue! I lined them up by the computer (4 kids 3yrs – 6yrs), they each got to choose something they would like to color. Spiderman? No Problem!
Type “spiderman coloring pages” into google search and presto! I know there are lots of great coloring page site out there, but I need spiderman now!

This always seems to be the biggest challenge for me during summer vacation…keeping the house in order. I don’t even mean it has to be clean, I mean keeping the toys off the floor, keeping the shoes on the shoe shelf, keeping dishes in the kitchen and keeping toys, shoes and dishes out of the bathroom! If you have children, you know what I mean :)
It’s impossible to follow them around all day long getting after them to pick up after themselves, plus that just makes mom extra irritated and stressed!
In order for your house to maintain some order this summer, you have got to have a game plan that you can stick to. (more…)

One thing that seems to happen at our house when the school aged kids are home for the summer is that they get bored and restless. They are used to having a structured day at school and then summer vacation comes and they break free from that structure, but they truly don’t know what to do with themselves! The kids still need that structure, maybe not as rigid, but they do need some type of daily and weekly schedule to follow. Keeping them busy is key! (more…)

This year, I think one of the most important things that will make a difference is the fact that I am thinking about and starting to plan for summer vacation, I will be ready for it! Usually it sneaks up on me, I am caught off guard and do not have a plan; and that, I have found, is a recipe for disaster.
I have come up with a packet of tips and tools that I plan to use this summer and that I think other busy mom’s will appreciate also!
