One thing that seems to happen at our house when the school aged kids are home for the summer is that they get bored and restless. They are used to having a structured day at school and then summer vacation comes and they break free from that structure, but they truly don’t know what to do with themselves! The kids still need that structure, maybe not as rigid, but they do need some type of daily and weekly schedule to follow. Keeping them busy is key! (more…)

This year, I think one of the most important things that will make a difference is the fact that I am thinking about and starting to plan for summer vacation, I will be ready for it! Usually it sneaks up on me, I am caught off guard and do not have a plan; and that, I have found, is a recipe for disaster.

I have come up with a packet of tips and tools that I plan to use this summer and that I think other busy mom’s will appreciate also!

Moms, Are you Ready for Summer Vacation?

Are you ready for summer vacation? 3 months with the kids…oh heaven! Well, not quite, especially if you are a stay at home, work at home or part time at home mom with a bunch of kiddos!

I am a work at home mom and I also watch my sister’s kids a few days a week, so this summer I will have 6 kids, ages 3-13. I can honestly say it gets a little crazy around here!

Here are the problems that I face every summer:

  • the house is a disaster
  • the kids are getting into everything
  • the kids are hyper and restless
  • I don’t have enough time to do my work
